What excites you most about your PIRE research?

PIRE research team is drawn from different geographical regions. The underpinning philosophy is that water and food security problems cannot be resolved using specialty discipline and thus multidisciplinary approaches are the basis of its formation. I am excited to be part of this research team which is seeking water and food security answers by crossing academic, geographical and cultural boundaries.

What’s the most valuable aspect of your research for the people and communities?

Rural communities in Ethiopia have limited coping mechanisms for water and food insecurity. I will serve as interface between researchers, local farmers and policy makers to craft integrated solutions for food and water security plight of rural households inhabiting the Blue Nile watershed.
